Our Story

Located in the heart of historic downtown Macon, the NAPA Lofts features eight loft apartments offering you the best in convenience, community, and culture. Our one- and two-bedroom units offer spacious layouts and modern amenities with classical details. Read below for history, testimonials, floor plans, neighborhood amentities, and more.

While the story of 562 Third Street dates back to Macon’s original land survey of 1823, today’s NAPA Lofts building was constructed in 1929 by Sears, Roebuck, and Company. From festooned shields and floral tiles to della robbia garlands, the building’s design featured a range of classical elements still on display today. In its post-Sears era, the building would be home to insurance companies, the IRS, the City Water Commission, and Victors Furniture. From 1961 to 1988, 562 Third Street accomodated a range of auto parts suppliers in support of downtown’s growing dealerships and showrooms. The last of these tenants, NAPA Auto Parts, closed its doors in 1988. Following a 14-year vacancy, the Sears building was rehabilitated for medical offices by Dr. Kenneth Harper. In 2008, the NAPA Lofts were established.
